LIA is a group led by immigrants and allies that fight for immigrant rights. It does so by engaging, educating, and organizing the community.
EN CONFIANZA: Stories Along the Border
In order to understand a culture or a community, it is important that we understand them on their own terms and in their own environment. As such, our goal is to show the connections and shared experiences of immigrants across the border while simultaneously showing the differences that geo-political spaces create. Laredo and El Paso share many commonalities, among them geographical features, traditions, and architecture. As immigrant women, we would use our own understanding and experiences to show how understanding is rooted in the knowledge you possess. This will be vastly different from interviews that drive the conversation.

WE ARE A
Laredo Immigrant Alliance (LIA) was founded by undocumented individuals and allies on September 2017 due to the threat of Texas law SB4 and the recision of the DACA program.
As more immigration issues affecting our community arose, the Laredo Immigrant Alliance formed, and expanded its role to help it’s immigrant community. Through our community outreach, detention visitation and monitoring program we continue to work towards facing the injustices imposed on immigrants and helping others navigate a viciously unfair and ruthless system.
